## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would name the entire stretch of State Route 206 in Coffee County as Veterans Perimeter Road in honor of United States military veterans.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution does not change any Georgia law or create new requirements. It is a ceremonial measure that honors United States military veterans for their service and sacrifice.
The operative part of the resolution designates the entire portion of State Route 206 in Coffee County as Veterans Perimeter Road. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the new name, and it directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to send a copy of the resolution to the Department of Transportation so the designation can be carried out.

### What it does

- Dedicates the entire portion of State Route 206 in Coffee County as Veterans Perimeter Road.
- Directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the new road name.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to send a copy of the resolution to the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

The designation directly involves the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must post signage, and residents and travelers in Coffee County who use State Route 206. It also serves as a tribute to United States military veterans.

### Why it matters

While the resolution creates no new rules or funding beyond signage, it gives a specific Coffee County highway a permanent honorary name recognizing veterans, which will appear on road signs seen daily by local drivers and travelers.

### Key provisions

- The resolution's whereas clauses state the General Assembly's reasons for honoring military veterans, but create no legal obligations.
- The first resolving clause dedicates all of State Route 206 in Coffee County as Veterans Perimeter Road.
- The second resolving clause directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain appropriate signs for the designation.
- The third resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House to send a copy of the resolution to the Department of Transportation.
