A RESOLUTION
Commending Community EsTr(El/La); and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Community Estr(El/La) is a grassroots organization led by immigrant, Spanish-speaking (Black, Indigenous, Brown), and transgender individuals who are dedicated to defending, organizing, and empowering the human rights of transgender Georgians; and
WHEREAS, this organization provides vital programs and services to support transgender and queer individuals, including healthcare access, HIV prevention, referrals for hormone replacement therapy, and advocacy for labor rights and protections; and
WHEREAS, Community EsTr(El/La) fosters empowerment and education through initiatives such as the Trans Queer School, which offers English classes for members and clients, and a monthly newsletter that highlights the organization's efforts; and
WHEREAS, the organization plays a key role in social and political advocacy, engaging in mobilization efforts, legislative initiatives, and community-based actions to defend the rights of transgender individuals and immigrants; and
WHEREAS, through cultural empowerment, leadership development, and intervention programs, Community EsTr(El/La) provides safe spaces for training, collaboration, and organizing, strengthening the resilience and self-determination of the transgender and gender non-conforming community; and
WHEREAS, Trans Liberation Day is a significant observance dedicated to recognizing the struggles and celebrating the achievements of the transgender community, and Community EsTr(El/La) continues to be an essential force in advancing justice, equity, and visibility for transgender Georgians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Community EsTr(El/La) upon this year's Trans Liberation Day for its dedication to advancing the rights and well-being of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Community EsTr(El/La).
