## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution would name the intersection of State Route 234/Gillionville Road and Eight Mile Road in Dougherty County the Lamar Hudgins Intersection, honoring his decades of local public service.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution recognizes Lamar Hudgins, a longtime Dougherty County public servant and U.S. Army veteran, for his contributions to the community and state. It recounts his military service from 1965 to 1968, his time on the Albany Board of City Commissioners, and his 28 years on the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners, making him the longest serving commissioner in the county's history.
The resolution directs that the intersection of State Route 234/Gillionville Road and Eight Mile Road in Dougherty County be dedicated as the Lamar Hudgins Intersection. It instructs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the dedication, and directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to Mr. Hudgins and to the department.

### What it does

- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the new intersection name.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to Mr. Hudgins and the Department of Transportation.
- Recites Mr. Hudgins's biography, including his Army service and 28 years on the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners, as the basis for the honor.

### Who it affects

The honor directly affects Lamar Hudgins, and the dedication requirement affects the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain the new intersection signage in Dougherty County.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no regulatory or budgetary effect beyond requiring the Department of Transportation to post signage; its main effect is a symbolic, permanent public recognition of Hudgins's service in the community where the intersection is located.
