## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution honors A'Cariyon Dwight Perry, a child killed when a vehicle went around a stopped ice cream truck, and voices support for future ice cream truck safety legislation.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives memorializes A'Cariyon Dwight Perry, a child who died after a vehicle passed around a stopped ice cream truck and struck him. It expresses condolences to his family and describes the circumstances of his death as a call to improve safety for children around ice cream trucks in residential areas.
The resolution does not create any new law or requirement itself. Instead, it states the House's support for future legislation that could add enhanced signage or other warning measures for drivers passing stopped ice cream trucks, and its interest in visibility improvements and public awareness campaigns. It directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to Perry's family, relevant state agencies, the public, and the press.

### What it does

- Formally honors the life and memory of A'Cariyon Dwight Perry and expresses condolences to his family on behalf of the House.
- States the House's support for future legislative efforts to improve ice cream truck safety, without enacting any specific new rule.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to the family, state agencies, the public, and the press.
- Describes possible future policy directions, such as enhanced signage and public awareness campaigns, that lawmakers say they intend to explore.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the family of A'Cariyon Dwight Perry, the Clerk of the House of Representatives, and unspecified state agencies that would receive copies. It also signals possible future impact on drivers and ice cream truck operators if related legislation follows.

### Why it matters

Because this is a resolution rather than a law, it changes nothing in Georgia's traffic code on its own. Its practical effect is symbolic: recording the House's grief and signaling that members may pursue actual safety legislation, such as new signage requirements, in the future.

### Key provisions

- The preamble recounts that A'Cariyon Dwight Perry died when a vehicle went around a stopped ice cream truck and struck him.
- The resolved clause has the House join in honoring his memory and expressing condolences to his family.
- The resolved clause also expresses House support for legislative efforts to enhance ice cream truck safety, without specifying binding requirements.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House to distribute copies of the resolution to the family, state agencies, the public, and the press.
