A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Joseph "Joey" Brown on his outstanding public service; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, appointed as county administrator in 1992 by the Liberty County Board of Commissioners, Joseph "Joey" Brown has served the citizens of Liberty County for over three decades, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the consistent delivery of essential services to residents; and

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished tenure, he has managed the preparation, monitoring, and execution of the county budget; directed departmental operations and capital projects; handled public relations; and served as a county liaison to regional, state, and federal agencies as well as local governments within and outside Liberty County; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership, Liberty County has completed numerous major construction projects, including the planning and construction of the Midcoast Regional Airport, the new Justice Center, and the Live Oak Library-Hinesville Branch; and

WHEREAS, his additional accomplishments include the acquisition and renovation of the Liberty County Community Complex, the renovation of the Historic Liberty County Courthouse and the County Annex Building, and the construction of new facilities such as the Public Works Facility, the Animal Control Building, the Liberty County Health Department, and more; and

WHEREAS, Joseph "Joey" Brown has further contributed to the development of local recreation through facilities such as James Brown Park, Gill Park, the Recreation Department Headquarters, the Samuel B. Harris Gymnasium, the Charles Shuman Gym, and numerous other park improvement projects; and

WHEREAS, his work led to the establishment of Liberty County's first integrated 911 system and its first full-time fire department, both of which have significantly improved emergency response capabilities for the community; and

WHEREAS, Joseph "Joey" Brown has served the residents of Liberty County with honor and distinction, and his vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Joseph "Joey" Brown for his 43 years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to Liberty County; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Joseph "Joey" Brown.
