A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Atlanta News First (Atlanta WANF-TV) for its outstanding contribution to civic engagement and patriotism through the "Pledge of the Day" initiative; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Atlanta News First (WANF-TV) has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to fostering patriotism and civic responsibility among the youth of Georgia through the "Pledge of the Day" initiative; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Erik Schrader, President and General Manager of Atlanta News First (WANF-TV), Atlanta News First has provided a platform for elementary school students across metro Atlanta to lead the Pledge of Allegiance, instilling in them a sense of national pride and unity; and
WHEREAS, this initiative was developed in 2024 by Representative Kim Schofield of House District 63, Atlanta, with the vision of expanding its reach to engage elementary schools across the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the "Pledge of the Day" initiative encourages civic education, reinforces the values of democracy, and fosters a spirit of unity among students, educators, and families in communities throughout Georgia; and
WHEREAS, by showcasing young students leading the Pledge of Allegiance on Atlanta News First and PeachtreeTV, this initiative serves as an inspiration for schools, communities, and media organizations to promote civic engagement at an early age; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); Erik Schrader, President and General Manager of Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); and all those involved in the "Pledge of the Day" initiative for their efforts in enhancing civic engagement and encouraging students to take pride in their country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); Erik Schrader, President and General Manager of Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); and Representative Kim Schofield for their dedication to civic education through the "Pledge of the Day" initiative and express appreciation for their leadership in fostering patriotism among Georgia's youth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); Erik Schrader, President and General Manager of Atlanta News First (WANF-TV); and Representative Kim Schofield.
