A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Anthony M. Lanier II; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Anthony M. Lanier II has distinguished himself as an exemplary professional2
football player, philanthropist, and advocate for youth and community development; and3
WHEREAS, a graduate of Alabama A&M University, Anthony M. Lanie r II began his4
professional football career in 2016 when he was signed as an u ndrafted free agent by the5
Washington Redskins; and6
WHEREAS, throughout his career, he played as a defensive end fo r several National7
Football League teams, including the Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas8
City Chiefs, and New Orleans Saints, before transitioning to the Canadian Football League9
(CFL); and10
WHEREAS, he signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders on March 2 , 2021, continuing11
to demonstrate his exceptional athletic ability, earning recognition as a CFL Top Performer12
of the Week, and being named to the CFL All-Pro Team for Defense in 2022; and13

WHEREAS, beyond his accomplishments on the field, he has served as a dedicated leader14
in his community through the Anthony M. Lanier II Foundation Inc., which hosts summer15
youth football camps and supports community-based initiatives to promote education, good16
health, character development, and social skills among young people; and17
WHEREAS, his unwavering commitment to empowering youth and givi ng back to his18
hometown of Savannah, Georgia, has earned him recognition as a Hometown Hero by19
WTOC News, Weather, and Sports; and20
WHEREAS, in honor of his achievements and service, July 1 was o fficially declared21
"Anthony M. Lanier II Day" in Savannah, Georgia, by former Mayor Eddie DeLoach, and22
he was further honored by receiving the Key to the City from Mayor Van Johnson III; and23
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkab le individual be24
appropriately honored during this special time.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
the members of this body recognize and commend Anthony M. Lanier II for his outstanding27
achievements in professional football and his dedicated efforts to uplift and support his28
community as well as extend best wishes for continued success.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to31
Anthony M. Lanier II.32
