A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment in her second year as director of the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP), coordinating with colleges and universities across the State of Georgia to recruit and ready student interns for service at the state capitol; and

WHEREAS, in this role, Dr. Kerce plays a vital part in the intern selection process by assisting with applications and interviews, and her tireless support to Ali Martin and Stacy Peery has been instrumental in preparing interns for the demands of their positions; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her statewide responsibilities, she is also serving her second year as Georgia State University's GLIP director and college coordinator, where she holds information sessions, guides students through the application process, and maintains close collaboration with the Governmental Affairs Office; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kerce leads the initial training session for Georgia State University GLIP interns and serves as the professor for the program's two academic courses, Legislative Internships and Directed Reading Research, providing academic structure and support throughout their legislative experience; and

WHEREAS, since 2017, Dr. Kerce has served as a professor in the Department of Political Science at Georgia State University, specializing in public law with a focus on judicial politics, American political institutions, and the separation of powers; and

WHEREAS, her dedication to academic excellence and student development has had a lasting impact on the success of the Georgia Legislative Internship Program and the students of Georgia State University; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce for her outstanding leadership, academic service, and contributions to the Georgia Legislative Internship Program as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Stephanie Dean Kerce.
