A RESOLUTION

Recognizing April 4, 2025, as 404 Day; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the vibrant community of Bankhead, located on the Westside of Atlanta, has played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural, musical, and artistic identity of the city and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Bankhead has been a foundational force in the evolution of Atlanta's music scene, particularly in hip-hop, giving rise to legendary artists, producers, and cultural movements that have left an indelible mark on the global entertainment industry; and

WHEREAS, the sounds, stories, and struggles of Bankhead have been immortalized through music and media, serving as a beacon of resilience, creativity, and community pride for generations of Atlantans, particularly within the Black community; and

WHEREAS, Bankhead's cultural influence extends beyond its immediate community, shaping the identity of Atlanta's northwest and southwest areas, inspiring generations of artists, entrepreneurs, and activists who continue to elevate Atlanta's status as a global leader in Black culture, music, and innovation; and

WHEREAS, beyond music, Bankhead has significantly influenced fashion, dance, language, and activism, making it a cornerstone of Atlanta's cultural identity and a driving force behind the city's national and international reputation as a hub for Black excellence; and

WHEREAS, April 4, widely recognized as "404 Day" in honor of Atlanta's area code, serves as a moment to celebrate the city's unique contributions to arts, business, and culture, with Bankhead standing as a crucial pillar in this legacy; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to acknowledge and uplift the contributions of Bankhead to the broader Atlanta community, ensuring that its impact continues to be recognized, preserved, and celebrated across the northwest and southwest areas of the city.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize April 4, 2025, as 404 Day in honor of Bankhead's rich cultural contributions to Atlanta, including the Westside communities, as well as the State of Georgia and beyond.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
