the 140th, Lupton of the 83rd, and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Charis Chambers; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Dr. Charis Chambers is a board-certified obstetrician- gynecologist and2
specialty-certified pediatric and adolescent gynecologist whose career reflects excellence in3
medical practice, education, and public advocacy; and4
WHEREAS, Dr. Chambers graduated magna cum laude from Spelman College in 2010 with5
a degree in biology, earned her medical degree from the Univers ity of Alabama at6
Birmingham, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynec ology at Greenville7
Memorial Hospital, where she was inducted into the prestigious medical honor society Alpha8
Omega Alpha; and9
WHEREAS, in 2019, she launched her educational platform The Period Doctor to address10
the lack of accessible, medically accurate reproductive health information and minority11
physician representation on social media; and12
WHEREAS, her work as The Period Doctor has earned national attention through television,13
digital media, and print publications, and her platform now rea ches millions of viewers14
monthly as well as boasts a following of over 270,000 individuals; and15

WHEREAS, in 2020, she pursued fellowship training in pediatric and adolescent gynecology16
at Baylor College of Medicine, completing her training and begi nning practice as a17
physician; and18
WHEREAS, in September 2022, she transitioned from hospital-empl oyed medicine to19
relocate to Atlanta, Georgia, with plans to open her own medica l practice as well as to20
continue her education and advocacy in reproductive health; and21
WHEREAS, Dr. Chambers is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable22
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and23
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this24
remarkable and distinguished individual be appropriately recognized.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Charis Chamb ers for her many27
outstanding contributions on behalf of the citizens of this sta te as well as extend the most28
sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.29
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized30
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr.31
Charis Chambers.32
