A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Ray Murray; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Ray Murray is a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning production2
group Organized Noize whose work has been pivotal in establishing Southern hip-hop as a3
dominant force in the music industry; and4
WHEREAS, Organized Noize has been the creative genius behind iconic tracks like every5
song on Outkast's Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, all the tracks on Goodie Mob's Soul6
Food, TLC's "Waterfalls," En Vogue's "Don't Let Go," and many other timeless hits, with7
their distinct sound deeply rooted in the cultural spirit of Georgia's "Red Clay"; and8
WHEREAS, Ray is a proud resident of Fulton County, having grown up in the West End and9
later moving from Sylvan Hills to East Point in 1987, where he met Sleepy Brown and the10
late Rico Wade, and together they formed the legendary trio that has shaped the landscape11
of hip-hop; and12
WHEREAS, Ray is now celebrating the 25th anniversary of his maj or contributions to13
Outkast's groundbreaking album Stankonia, an album that changed the course of music14
history; and15

WHEREAS, Ray continues to be a passionate advocate for the deve lopment of musical16
education and the arts, actively supporting youth programs like the Joseph B. Whitehead's17
Boys & Girls Club to nurture the next generation of creative talent.18
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that19
the members of this body recognize and commend Ray Murray for his monumental influence20
on the music industry, his exceptional work in shaping Southern hip-hop, and his ongoing21
dedication to supporting youth arts programs and education.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized23
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ray24
Murray.25
