## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A House resolution would name the intersection of State Route 25/U.S. Route 17 and Little Neck Road in Chatham County the Benjamin R. Polote, Sr. Intersection, honoring the Savannah homebuilder.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives honors Benjamin R. Polote, Sr., a Savannah businessman who founded Polote Homebuilders in 1970 and grew it into a major construction company that has worked on projects across the country. The resolution recounts his career and the honors he has received, including a Blue Legend Award from the Georgia Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
The operative part of the resolution designates the intersection of State Route 25/U.S. Route 17 and Little Neck Road in Chatham County as the Benjamin R. Polote, Sr. Intersection. It directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to put up and maintain signs marking the dedication, and it directs the Clerk of the House to send copies of the resolution to Mr. Polote and to the Department of Transportation.

### What it does

- Officially names the intersection of State Route 25/U.S. Route 17 and Little Neck Road in Chatham County the Benjamin R. Polote, Sr. Intersection.
- Directs the Georgia Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking the newly named intersection.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to distribute copies of the resolution to Mr. Polote and the Department of Transportation.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly affects Benjamin R. Polote, Sr., who is being honored, the Georgia Department of Transportation, which must install and maintain signage, and residents and drivers in Chatham County who use the intersection.

### Why it matters

While largely ceremonial, the resolution results in a concrete change: new road signage at a specific Chatham County intersection recognizing a local businessman's contributions, funded and maintained by the state transportation department.

### Key provisions

- The resolved clause dedicates the intersection of State Route 25/U.S. Route 17 and Little Neck Road in Chatham County as the Benjamin R. Polote, Sr. Intersection.
