A RESOLUTION

Commending Joseph Williams of Alpharetta High School for winning the 2024 GHSA 6A Individual Track and Field State Championship in the 110m hurdles; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Joseph Williams, a junior at Alpharetta High School, maintained the school's proud tradition of excellence with equal emphases on character and academics; and

WHEREAS, this superlative athlete has completed a triumphant season of track competition that included several prestigious invitationals and meets; and

WHEREAS, excellent skill, superior fitness, and extraordinary resilience made Joseph Williams a spectacular runner to observe throughout the season, and as a fitting finale to his remarkable 2024 campaign, Joseph Williams captured the state championship in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.11 seconds, becoming the first state champion in the 110m hurdles in school history, and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of Joseph Williams is a clear indication of his outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and his fighting spirit; his superb discipline and commitment to track; and the astute direction of Head Coach AJ Merine; and

WHEREAS, as this outstanding athlete earned his well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with confidence, grit, and precision over months of training, conditioning, and competition, it is abundantly proper to call him a champion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Joseph Williams of Alpharetta High School for winning the 2024 GHSA 6A Individual Track and Field State Championship in the 110m hurdles and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Joseph Williams.
