A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Mark Amerman upon his retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Mark Amerman has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Henry County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Mark has enjoyed a successful career in law enforcement, which began in the military, serving six years with the United States Army Military Police Corps before beginning his career in 1994 with the Henry County Police Department; and
WHEREAS, in 2018, he was elected as Police Chief, a position he would hold until his appointment to Director of Public Safety, in September of 2023; and
WHEREAS, until his retirement, he oversaw all Public Safety operations for the Henry County Police Department, Fire-Rescue Department, Emergency 911 Department, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Department, Animal Control, Community Service, and Code Enforcement; and
WHEREAS, he also served the state when was appointed by the Governor of the State of Georgia to sit on the POST Council, the governing authority over police officer certifications of the state; and
WHEREAS, Mark's significant organizational and leadership talents, remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS, this spirited law enforcement professional has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all of his duties; and
WHEREAS, he has served with honor and distinction with the Henry County Police Department, and his vision and unyielding commitment to the community will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Mark Amerman for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mark Amerman.
