## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends Pilar King, a Southwest DeKalb High School swimmer, for becoming the first athlete in her school's history to win a GHSA Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championship gold medal.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives honors Pilar King, a student athlete at Southwest DeKalb High School, for winning the GHSA (Georgia High School Association) Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championship. The text notes that King was the first swimmer in her school's history to win a gold medal at this championship.
The resolution does not change any Georgia law. It simply states the House's recognition of King's achievement, praises her dedication and sportsmanship, and extends best wishes for her future success. It also directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for King to keep.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends Pilar King for winning the GHSA Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championship.
- States that King was the first swimmer in Southwest DeKalb High School's history to win a gold medal at this championship.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Pilar King.
- Extends the House's best wishes to King for future success but creates no legal obligations or funding.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Pilar King, a student athlete at Southwest DeKalb High School, and references her school and its swim team. It does not impose duties on the public beyond the Clerk of the House, who must prepare a copy of the resolution.

### Why it matters

This is a ceremonial honor rather than a policy change. It gives Pilar King and her school official public recognition from the state legislature for her athletic achievement, but it does not alter any law, spend state money, or affect anyone outside those named.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe King's achievement as the first Southwest DeKalb High School swimmer to win a GHSA Class 4A gold medal and praise her character and skill.
- The resolving clause has the House of Representatives officially recognize and commend King and wish her future success.
- The final clause directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to King.
