A RESOLUTION

Recognizing April 6, 2025, as The Georgia Cup Day and celebrating The Georgia Cup's 28th anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. José Luis Ballester of Spain and Arizona State University, while displaying great golfing skill, courage, and sportsmanship, won the United States Amateur Championship in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jacob Skov Olesen of Denmark, while displaying great golf skill, courage, and sportsmanship, won the British Amateur Championship in 2024; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia enjoys a long and illustrious history of distinguished golf champions both professional and amateur; and

WHEREAS, the Golf Club of Georgia has organized a competition between the United States and British Amateur Golf Champions known as The Georgia Cup; and

WHEREAS, The Georgia Cup provides a unique golf competition and is a charitable fundraising event benefiting Folds of Honor; and

WHEREAS, The Georgia Cup is a celebration of championship amateur golf and the honor, integrity, sportsmanship, and civility displayed by those competitors who have played with such distinction.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize April 6, 2025, as The Georgia Cup Day and celebrate The Georgia Cup's 28th anniversary.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to The Golf Club of Georgia and its participants.
