A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School girls and boys basketball teams for winning the 2025 GHSA Class A-AAA Private State Championships; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School girls and boys basketball teams have established and maintained a proud tradition of excellence with equal emphasis on character, academics, and athletic achievement; and

WHEREAS, the girls basketball team secured its fifth state championship in program history, finishing an outstanding season with a record of 25 wins and 5 losses, while the boys basketball team captured its first-ever state championship with an impressive record of 27 wins and 4 losses; and

WHEREAS, excellent play, superior teamwork, and extraordinary resilience made both teams remarkable to observe throughout the season, culminating in their triumphant victories at the 2025 GHSA Class A-AAA Private State Championships; and

WHEREAS, several players and coaches received prestigious honors from the Atlanta Tip-Off Club, including senior Haley Swain being named Miss Georgia Basketball, Caleb Wilson earning the title of Mr. Georgia Basketball, and Head Coaches Nichole Dixon and Mario Mays receiving the esteemed Garland-Pinholster Girls and Boys Coach of the Year awards, respectively; and

WHEREAS, Nakhai Worthy was recognized for her exceptional talent and contributions to the girls basketball team by earning a spot on the All-Metro Third Team; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performances of these teams are a testament to the outstanding athletic ability, dedication, hard work, and unity of purpose of each team member; the skillful coaching of their leaders; and the unwavering support of their school and community; and

WHEREAS, as these magnificent teams earned their well-deserved reputations for excellence by performing with courage, precision, and determination over months of rigorous training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School girls and boys basketball teams for winning the 2025 GHSA Class A-AAA Private State Championships and extend best wishes for their continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School girls and boys basketball teams.
