A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Samantha Patton on winning the State Championship in the1
Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 2024 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State2
Championship; and for other purposes.3
WHEREAS, Samantha Patton of Cook High School earned the top title in the state with her4
win in the Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 2024 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State5
Championship; and6
WHEREAS, Samantha's performance at the state tournament and championship victory have7
earned her the title of first Lady Hornet to become a state cha mp in wrestling, and are a8
fitting end to an exceptional high school wrestling career; and9
WHEREAS, this stellar young woman epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and10
character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and11
WHEREAS, her months of training and competition have been rewarded with an impressive12
win, and it is appropriate that she holds the title of champion; and13

WHEREAS, Samantha's victory was the culmination of a season of hard work, dedication,14
and excellent sportsmanship; and15
WHEREAS, her superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned her the respect and16
admiration of her teammates and challengers; and17
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlati ve abilities of this18
accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect she has19
brought to herself, her school, and her community, be appropriately recognized.20
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that21
the members of this body recognize and commend Samantha Patton on winning the State22
Championship in the Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 20 24 GHSA Traditional23
Wrestling State Championship and extend best wishes for success in the future.24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized25
and directed to make an appr opriate copy of t his resolution ava ilable for distribution to26
Samantha Patton.27
