A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending McKenna Farms Therapy Services; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, McKenna Farms Therapy Services is a nonprofit organiza tion that provides2
therapy services to boys and girls ages 0 to 21 with special needs from Northwest Georgia3
and metro Atlanta; and4
WHEREAS, the organization serves children with a variety of diagnoses including, but not5
limited to Autism, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Development al Delay, genetic and6
chromosomal disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Down Syndr ome, Traumatic Brain7
Injury, Stroke, Scoliosis, fine motor delay, oral and motor fee ding disorders, learning and8
language disabilities, auditory processing, and coordination disorders; and9
WHEREAS, McKenna Farms began in 2001 with 10 children, one phys ical therapist10
assistant, 5 volunteers, and 2 horses; and 11
WHEREAS, currently, the program has 25 therapists who serve over 500 children per week,12
258 regular volunteers, 700 weekly therapy sessions, patients f rom 16 counties, and 1513
horses; and14

WHEREAS, the Farm is situated on 30 acres in Paulding County an d includes a15
newly-renovated therapy clinic and offices in a civil war-era farmhouse, 8 therapy cottages,16
outdoor and indoor riding arenas, a sensory trail, wooded adven ture trail, and a barn that17
houses 15 horses and 2 mini horses; and18
WHEREAS, McKenna Farms offers physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as19
therapeutic riding provided in various settings including clini cal, aquatic, and through the20
utilization of equine movement in hippotherapy; and21
WHEREAS, no other therapeutic center in the region offers such comprehensive services in22
one location; and23
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this organization,24
as well as its staff and volunteers, is appropriately honored.25
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that26
the members of this body recognize and commend the selfless wor k of McKenna Farms27
Therapy Services.28
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized29
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to30
McKenna Farms Therapy Services.31
