House Resolution 901

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending AJ Calloway; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, AJ Calloway is a distinguished journalist, cultural influencer, and media professional renowned for his compelling interviews with global humanitarians, political figures, and entertainment icons; and

WHEREAS, he first gained national recognition as the original co-host of 106 & Park: BET's Top Ten Live, a groundbreaking music countdown show that became a cultural phenomenon and the highest-rated program on BET, shaping a generation of music and entertainment enthusiasts; and

WHEREAS, following his success at BET, AJ Calloway transitioned to EXTRA, a nationally syndicated entertainment news program, where he served as co-host for 15 years, earning critical acclaim and contributing to the show's Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Entertainment News Program in 2014 and 2016; and

WHEREAS, AJ Calloway currently serves as CEO of Collective Professional Resource Group, a consulting firm specializing in marketing, strategic partnerships, brand development, and event production, as well as leader of Off the Plantation Productions Inc., a production company dedicated to amplifying untold, dynamic stories of African Americans; and

WHEREAS, a proud alumnus of Howard University, AJ Calloway is dedicated to education and mentorship, serving on the Dean's Advisory Board at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and as Vice-Chairman of the Thomas W. Dortch Jr. Foundation, which empowers underserved youth; and

WHEREAS, he is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness, serving on the board of Silence the Shame Inc., and has furthered education by teaching Howard University's first graduate-level course on hip-hop culture and public history pro bono; and

WHEREAS, AJ Calloway's lifelong commitment to service is reflected in his affiliations as a Life Member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., a Prince Hall Mason at W.C. Thomas Lodge No. 112, and an active member of 100 Black Men of America Inc.; and

WHEREAS, above all his professional and civic achievements, AJ Calloway cherishes his role as a devoted husband and father of three, finding his greatest joy in faith and family; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that AJ Calloway's outstanding career, dedication to community service, and commitment to uplifting others be recognized and honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend AJ Calloway for his exceptional contributions to media, education, and community empowerment as well as extend best wishes for his continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to AJ Calloway.
