A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Celia Young; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, a 12-year-old Georgia resident, Celia Young's passion for service was shaped by her time spent with the ACCESS class, where she came to understand the limitations faced by others and felt a calling to make a difference; and
WHEREAS, in 2021, she founded HPIN – Helping People in Need to fulfill her desire to help those in need in her community; and
WHEREAS, Celia Young first created a team of HPIN Ambassadors by inviting her friends to join the effort, equipping them with t-shirts and encouraging them to raise funds through activities such as lemonade stands and cookie sales; and
WHEREAS, through these youth-led initiatives, HPIN has collected and distributed essential goods including sleeping bags, canned food, and school supplies to local organizations such as Saved by Grace, Communities in Schools, and Sparrow's Nest; and
WHEREAS, Celia Young thoughtfully plans HPIN's annual projects prior to each summer, and in 2024, she organized a successful silent art auction at Live Oak Fitness featuring artwork by her and her Ambassadors, which raised $4,700 to support charitable efforts; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that HPIN has raised between $25,000 and $30,000 in cash and in-kind donations since its founding, making a meaningful impact on families and students throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, with the belief that "some people need a little help sometimes," Celia Young has embodied the highest ideals of civic responsibility and philanthropy, making it abundantly fitting and proper that she be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Celia Young for her remarkable leadership and service to her community as founder of HPIN – Helping People in Need as well as extend best wishes for continued success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Celia Young.
