## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A House resolution honors Eric Hunt, a Georgia State University law student and legal extern in the General Assembly's Office of General Counsel, for his legal, military, and law enforcement service.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial honor from the Georgia House of Representatives. It does not change any law. Instead, it recognizes Eric Hunt, a third-year law student at the Georgia State University School of Law who serves as the first legal extern in the General Assembly's Office of General Counsel.
The resolution details Hunt's background as a former DeKalb County police officer, his military service as an infantryman in the Georgia Army National Guard, his 2014 recognition as Georgia National Guard Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year, and his role training Honduran soldiers. It formally congratulates him and directs the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for him.

### What it does

- Formally congratulates and honors Eric Hunt on behalf of the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute an official copy of the resolution to Hunt.
- Recites Hunt's background as a law student, former police officer, and National Guard veteran without creating any new law or funding.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors Eric Hunt. It does not impose obligations on the public, agencies, or businesses; its only administrative effect is directing the Clerk of the House to produce a copy for him.

### Why it matters

This is a symbolic honor rather than a policy change, so it does not alter any Georgia law, create funding, or affect anyone besides the individual it recognizes and the House Clerk's office tasked with distributing the document.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Hunt's role as the first legal extern in the Office of General Counsel and his prior service in the House Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
- The whereas clauses recount his law enforcement career in DeKalb County and his military service, including being named 2014 Georgia National Guard Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year.
- The resolving clause formally congratulates and honors Eric Hunt and extends best wishes for his future.
- A further resolving clause directs the Clerk of the House to make an appropriate copy available for distribution to Hunt.
