House Resolution 926

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Denney H. Rogers; and for other purposes.1
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers has faithfully served as mayor of Ephesus, Georgia, for 352
years since being elected when his father, Lonnie L. Rogers, the first mayor, retired; he has3
maintained that post in each election without opposition; and4
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers has led his community in building one of the most active5
libraries in the West Georgia Library System, a city hall that serves the more than 4006
citizens of Ephesus, and a new fire station that serves the surrounding area; and7
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers, as mayor, has led his community to pave roads, build ball8
fields, and construct an event barn and a community center to serve the families of Ephesus9
and the surrounding area; and10
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers has led his community to develop water systems whose lines11
extend far out of his community in several directions, has added four wells to that system,12
paid in full for the system, and has done so while keeping his town debt-free; and13

WHEREAS, he continues to serve his community in developing new projects such as the14
proposed Veteran's Park, which is in the beginning stages; and15
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers serves his city, county, and state in many other ways16
including, but not limited to, serving on the West Georgia Regional Library Board for many17
years, in the local Lions Club, on the Soil and Water Board, with the Rolling Hills Resource18
Conservation and Development Council with the National Resources Convention Service,19
as well as serving on the Agribusiness Council Board of Directors; and20
WHEREAS, Denney H. Rogers serves as a volunteer in many other areas in his community21
including chairing a Sacred Harp singing group that meets annually in the city of Ephesus.22
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that23
the members of this body recognize and commend Denney H. Rogers of Ephesus for his 3524
years of service to his town and the surrounding area.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution ava ilable for distribution to27
Denney H. Rogers.28
