## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution honors DeeDee Hamilton, a longtime foster parent and special education teacher, for her nearly two decades of service to children in the state.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, not a change to state law. It recognizes DeeDee Hamilton for nearly 20 years as a foster parent, during which she often cared for three to four children at once, including children who had experienced abuse or neglect or who have special needs. It also notes her 17 years of work as a special education teacher.
The resolution formally commends her for her contributions to Georgia's youth and directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for her. It does not create any program, funding, or legal requirement; its only effect is the formal recognition itself.

### What it does

- Formally recognizes and commends DeeDee Hamilton for her service as a foster parent and special education teacher.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Hamilton.
- Creates no funding, program, or change to Georgia law, serving only as a ceremonial honor.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names and honors DeeDee Hamilton. It has no regulatory or funding effect on other Georgians, foster care agencies, or schools, though it reflects on foster parenting and special education work in Georgia generally.

### Why it matters

Because this is a commendation rather than a law, it does not change anyone's rights, duties, or funding. Its practical effect is limited to publicly recognizing Hamilton's decades of work as a foster parent and special education teacher.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses describe Hamilton's nearly 20 years as a foster parent and 17 years as a special education teacher, along with her educational background.
- The resolved clause formally commends Hamilton on behalf of the House of Representatives for her contributions to Georgia's youth.
- A further resolved clause directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to provide her a copy of the resolution.
