House Resolution 94 By: Representatives Stephens of the 164th, Gilliard of the 162nd, and Franklin of the 160th A RESOLUTION Recognizing February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, arts and culture embody the accumulated wisdom, intellect, and imagination of humankind; and WHEREAS, Georgians recognize the arts and culture industry as a vital pillar of society and a source of pride in their neighborhoods and communities; and WHEREAS, through organizational spending and the resulting economic impact, the arts and culture industry generated $1.3 billion in 2022, supporting 19,734 jobs across Georgia; and WHEREAS, an overwhelming number of visitors to Georgia cite attending performances, events, exhibits, venues, and arts and culture-related facilities as their primary reason for visiting; and WHEREAS, arts and culture play a unique role in the lives of families and communities throughout Georgia, serving as a catalyst for economic impact, stimulating business development, spurring urban renewal, attracting tourists and residents to community activities, and improving the overall quality of life in Georgia communities; and WHEREAS, towns, cities, and counties, through their local and state arts agencies and councils representing thousands of arts and cultural organizations, celebrate the value and importance of arts and culture in the lives of Georgians and the health of thriving communities during Georgia Arts Day. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize February 2, 2025, as Georgia Arts Day in Georgia and encourage communities throughout the state to celebrate and promote the arts and culture. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
