## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia House resolution formally commends Jesse Blankenship, a Trion High School student named the school's 2025 STAR Student, for his academic achievement.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution is a ceremonial statement from the Georgia House of Representatives honoring Jesse Blankenship, a student at Trion High School, for being chosen as the school's 2025 STAR Student. The STAR Student program recognizes a high school's top academic performer based on standardized test scores and class rank.
The resolution notes that Jesse selected teacher Laura Bryant as his STAR Teacher in recognition of her support during his schooling. It directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to Jesse Blankenship. The resolution does not change any Georgia law; it is a formal expression of congratulations adopted by the House.

### What it does

- Formally commends Jesse Blankenship for being named Trion High School's 2025 STAR Student.
- Recognizes teacher Laura Bryant as the STAR Teacher Jesse chose for her support and guidance.
- Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Jesse Blankenship.
- Creates no new law, funding, or penalty; it is purely a ceremonial statement of the House.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Jesse Blankenship, a Trion High School student, and his chosen STAR Teacher, Laura Bryant. It has no legal effect on any other group, agency, or Georgia resident.

### Why it matters

The resolution has no practical effect on Georgia law, funding, or policy. Its significance is symbolic: it gives official, public recognition from the state legislature to a student's academic achievement and to the teacher who supported him.

### Key provisions

- Explains the STAR Student criteria: the highest score on one administration of the three-part Scholastic Aptitude Test, and standing in the top 10 percent or top ten students of the class.
- States that Jesse Blankenship chose Laura Bryant as his STAR Teacher for her support throughout his high school years.
- Resolves that the House commends Jesse Blankenship and wishes him continued academic success.
- Directs the Clerk of the House to make a copy of the resolution available for distribution to Jesse Blankenship.
