By: Representatives Lumsden of the 12th, Barton of the 5th, and Dempsey of the 13th
A RESOLUTION
Commending Sara Grace Abernathy, Model High School's 2025 STAR Student; and for1
other purposes.2
WHEREAS, a gifted student at Model High School, Sara Grace Aber nathy has been3
recognized for her superlative achievement and selected as Model High School's 2025 STAR4
Student; and5
WHEREAS, to be selected as a STAR Student, a student must have obtained the highest6
score in one administration of the three-part Scholastic Aptitu de Test and be in the top 107
percent or top ten students of his or her class; and8
WHEREAS, each school has one STAR Student who in turn has the opportunity to choose9
a STAR Teacher who has been inspiring and encouraging throughou t that student's high10
school career; and11
WHEREAS, educator Rachel Jones was chosen by Sara Grace as Model High School's 202512
STAR Teacher for the great support and guidance provided to her throughout the years; and13

WHEREAS, Sara Grace has personified the selfless dedication, me ntal agility, verbal14
adroitness, and personal maturity necessary for superlative academic performance; and15
WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most16
important objective of the General Assembly, and Sara Grace has shown by academic17
accomplishment that the pursuit and attainment of scholastic success are within the reach of18
the students in this state; and19
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation tow ard the future of this20
bright and promising young citizen.21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that22
the members of this body heartily commend Sara Grace Abernathy for being named Model23
High School's 2025 STAR Student and express their most sincere best wishes for continued24
academic success.25
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized26
and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Sara27
Grace Abernathy.28
