A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the 2025 Awards of Honor recipient, Dave Roberson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dave comes from a family of public servants and he was recently re-elected to his second term as Sheriff of Floyd County, where he has 30 years of continuous service; and

WHEREAS, Dave is a certified jail officer, peace officer, general instructor and crisis intervention training instructor through the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council; and

WHEREAS, Dave is a recipient of the 2022 Georgia Department of Community Supervision Public Stakeholder Award, a 2018 Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau Superstar of Service, and the 2005 Field Services Deputy of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Dave serves on the Board of Directors of Community Criminal Justice Foundation, Sexual Assault Center of NWGA, Harbor House Child Advocacy Center, Blood Assurance Rome, and Vital Grace; and

WHEREAS, Dave serves his community through his volunteerism with Rome, Georgia, Cares Disaster Relief Efforts, Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Challenger Baseball and Basketball Leagues, as well as the Special Olympics of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Dave is a member of the Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police, Walk to End Alzheimer's, Noon Optimist Club, Exchange Club of Rome, and an Advisory Board Member of NextDoor at Living Proof Recovery; and

WHEREAS, Dave is a graduate of Leadership Rome Class of XXXVI, a past mentor for the Rome Middle School Habitudes Program, a Contestant 2017 Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge, and participates in the Floyd County Sheriff's Office Community Programs: Sheriff Santa, Santa for Seniors, and F.R.E.E.D.; anf

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize Dave Roberson for his outstanding dedication to the community, commend him as a recipient of the 2025 Heart of the Community Awards Honor Recipient, and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dave Roberson.
