A RESOLUTION

Commending Kimberly Seals Allers and recognizing April 11, 2025, as Irth Day; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Kimberly Seals Allers is an award-winning journalist, five-time author, international speaker, strategist, and nationally recognized advocate for maternal and infant health equity; and

WHEREAS, she has served as a senior editor at ESSENCE and as a writer at FORTUNE magazine, lending her voice and talents to prominent platforms while addressing the racial and socio-cultural complexities of birth, breast-feeding, and motherhood; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Seals Allers further serves as the founder of Irth, a digital platform designed as a "Yelp-like" app and aimed at addressing bias and racism in maternity and infant care; and

WHEREAS, she is also the creator of Birthright, a podcast that centers joyful and healing Black birth stories to reclaim the narrative of Black maternal experiences and offer a counterbalance to the often-negative statistics reported in mainstream media; and

WHEREAS, through her work with Irth and Birthright, Kimberly Seals Allers continues to pioneer innovative tools and storytelling initiatives that uplift communities and promote respectful, equitable maternity and infant care; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Kimberly Seals Allers for her groundbreaking contributions to maternal and infant health equity, recognize April 11, 2025, as Irth Day, and extend best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Kimberly Seals Allers.
