Senate Bill 623 By: Senators Wicks of the 34th, Parent of the 44th and Davenport of the 17th AS PASSED A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend an Act creating the State Court of Clayton County, approved January 28, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 2032), as amended, particularly by an Act approved April 18, 2022 (Ga. L. 2022, p. 5510), so as to revise provisions related to the compensation of the solicitor-general of the state court; to provide for related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: SECTION 1. An Act creating the State Court of Clayton County, approved January 28, 1964 (Ga. L. 1964, p. 2032), as amended, particularly by an Act approved April 18, 2022 (Ga. L. 2022, p. 5510), is amended by revising Section 6 as follows: "SECTION 6. Salary of the solicitor-general. (a) The solicitor-general of the State Court of Clayton County shall receive a salary equal to 95 percent of the total compensation of the Chief Judge of the State Court of Clayton County, to include any supplement received pursuant to state law or county ordinance to be paid in biweekly installments from the funds of Clayton County. (b) In no event shall the solicitor-general's total salary as provided for in subsection (a) of this section exceed the greater of $191,007.00 or 95 percent of the total compensation of the Chief Judge of the State Court of Clayton County." SECTION 2. This Act shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which the solicitor-general of the State Court of Clayton County fully complies with the county-wide audits of Clayton County for years 2024 , 2025, and 2026 required pursuant to subsection (c.1) of Code Section 36-81-7. SECTION 3. All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
