Senate Resolution 1001 By: Senators McNeel of the 18th and Williams of the 25th A RESOLUTION Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., and dedicating a bridge in his memory; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., graduated from Swainsboro High School and attended the University of Georgia's College of Pharmacy; and WHEREAS, he cofounded Lawson & Cromer Pharmacy and dedicated over four decades of his life to serving his customers with professionalism, compassion, and kindness; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lawson was a consistent and consummate presence in the civic life of the City of Forsyth, serving on numerous boards and committees over the years; and WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Lawson was an active member of Forsyth United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating a bridge in his memory. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 83 over Tobesofkee Creek in Monroe County is dedicated as the Jimmy N. Lawson, Sr. Memorial Bridge. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Department of Transportation is authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate signs dedicating the Jimmy N. Lawson, Sr. Memorial Bridge. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Mr. Jimmy Neal Lawson, Sr., and to the Department of Transportation.
