By: Senators Walker III of the 20th, Anavitarte of the 31st, Burns of the 23rd, Tillery of the
19th, Watson of the 1st and others
A RESOLUTION
Commending the East Laurens Lady Falcons basketball team for their victory in the GHSA
Class A/Division I Girls State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the East Laurens Lady Falcons basketball team, led by Head Coach Danielle
Lowther, captured the GHSA Class A/Division I Girls State Championship by defeating the
Elbert County Blue Devils with a final score of 63-55 in a hard-fought contest, displaying
remarkable athleticism, determination, and sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, this championship marks the first state title in school history and the first state
championship appearance for the Lady Falcons, making the achievement especially historic
and noteworthy; and
WHEREAS, the team's success is the result of the dedication, discipline, and teamwork of
its outstanding student-athletes, including Amari Kellam, Garyunna Mitchell, D'Nya Rozier,
Alasia Wiggins, DeAndrea Lowther, Zahmaria Robinson, Miyah Smith, Jameria Bing,
Deanna Lowther, Kiley Canady, Mykia Harris, Layla Tanner, Quean Washington, Rakiyah
Turner, and Nyzia Atkins; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Falcons have brought great pride and recognition to East Laurens High
School and the surrounding community, serving as an inspiration to students and citizens
alike.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend the East Laurens Lady Falcons basketball team for their outstanding
accomplishment and for bringing pride and distinction to their school and community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the East Laurens
Lady Falcons basketball team.
