A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists on
its 75th anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) was founded
in 1951, and for 75 years, it has advanced the health and well-being of patients through
excellence in clinical practice, education, advocacy, and research; and
WHEREAS, ACOG represents more than 62,000 health care professionals nationwide,
including 1,727 members in Georgia, who provide essential obstetric and gynecologic care
to patients across the state; and
WHEREAS, ACOG and its members in Georgia have championed initiatives to improve
maternal health, protect the patient-physician relationship, protect access to health care for
all individuals, and legally protect access to IVF; and
WHEREAS, ACOG works to create a stronger, more sustainable practice environment for
obstetrician-gynecologists and their patients; and
WHEREAS, the 75th anniversary of ACOG offers an opportunity to recognize its historic
contributions and reaffirm our commitment to advancing the health of patients in Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists upon the grand occasion
of its 75th anniversary and commend its members for their dedication to improving the health
of patients in the State of Georgia and beyond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
