Senate Resolution 1028 By: Senators James of the 28th, Mangham of the 55th, Howard of the 35th, Davenport of the 17th, Harrell of the 40th and others A RESOLUTION Commending the Georgia Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association upon its ninth annual GWIAA Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, the National Women in Agriculture Association (NWIAA) stands as the singular advocate for securing congressional funding dedicated to the well-being of women and children in the field of agriculture; and WHEREAS, established in 2008 by Dr. Tammy Steele of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, NWIAA has grown into the largest women-owned, women-led agriculture organization; and WHEREAS, the Georgia Chapter (GWIAA) of the NWIAA is currently led by Noreen S. Whitehead, who has greatly furthered the chapter's commitment to the advancement and inclusion of women and children in agriculture; and WHEREAS, as testament to its mission, the GWIAA successfully secured funding in 2021 through the USDA NIFA Funded Beginning Farmers Grant Program, and it has since activated 30 beginning farm producers across 18 counties in the state; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this outstanding organization be appropriately honored during this special time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Georgia Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association upon its ninth annual GWIAA Day at the state capitol for its many remarkable contributions on behalf of the women and children of the State of Georgia as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Chapter of the National Women in Agriculture Association.
