## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution formally honors Cyndi West for 25 years of service to the Georgia State Senate and 34 total years of service to the state.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate rather than a bill that changes state law. It recognizes Cyndi West, a longtime Senate staffer, for her career of public service, which began in 1991 at the Georgia World Congress Center and continued at the Georgia Dome before she joined the Georgia State Senate staff.
The resolution recounts that West served under seven different senators over 25 years in the Senate, including a full 25-year stretch supporting Senator Ed Harbison, and describes her work managing communications and helping constituents. The Senate formally commends her for 25 years with the Senate and 34 total years of state service, and directs the Secretary of the Senate to give her a copy of the resolution as a keepsake.

### What it does

- Formally commends Cyndi West for 25 years of service to the Georgia State Senate and 34 total years of service to the State of Georgia.
- Recounts her career history, including work at the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome, and the Georgia State Senate.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to Cyndi West.
- Creates no new law, funding, or ongoing obligation; it is a one-time honorary statement by the Senate.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly concerns Cyndi West, a Georgia State Senate staff member, and references the seven senators she has worked for, including Senator Ed Harbison. It has no broader effect on other Georgians or state agencies.

### Why it matters

This resolution has no practical effect on Georgia law, funding, or residents outside of a formal, symbolic recognition of one staff member's career. It documents her service record and directs a commemorative copy for her personal keeping.

### Key provisions

- The whereas clauses detail West's 34-year career, including roles at the Georgia World Congress Center, the Georgia Dome, and the Georgia State Senate.
- The resolved clause commends West for 25 years of Senate service and 34 years of total state service.
- A further resolved clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution to West.
