A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the City of Hapeville; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is a historic and vibrant small city located just south of downtown Atlanta and adjacent to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest airport, and it is home to approximately 6,500 residents; and

WHEREAS, founded in the late 19th century as a railroad and industrial hub, Hapeville has deep roots in transportation and manufacturing that played a significant role in shaping the economic growth of the Atlanta region and the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville was once home to the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant, a landmark of Georgia's industrial history, which has been thoughtfully re-imagined as the Porsche Cars North America Headquarters, symbolizing the city's ability to honor its past while embracing innovation and global economic leadership; and

WHEREAS, over time, Hapeville has evolved into a thriving center for arts, culture, and creative place-making while preserving the close-knit character and civic pride of a hometown community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Hapeville is widely recognized for its walkable downtown, historic neighborhoods, and its support of one of the most robust public art initiatives of any small city in the nation, with murals, sculptures, and artistic installations woven throughout the community to reflect its unique identity and shared sense of place; and

WHEREAS, Hapeville regularly hosts festivals, concerts, and cultural events that bring residents and visitors together and exemplify the city's spirit of engagement, collaboration, and connection; and

WHEREAS, as part of the Atlanta Aerotropolis, the City of Hapeville is uniquely positioned at the intersection of history and growth, leveraging its strategic location while investing in forward-looking initiatives that enhance economic opportunity, community vitality, and quality of life for its residents; and

WHEREAS, the citizens and leadership of the City of Hapeville continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to civic engagement, cultural enrichment, and responsible growth that contributes to the overall strength of the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the City of Hapeville for its historical significance, cultural leadership, and continued contributions to the State of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Hapeville.
