A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Deputy Nicolas Glass for his courageous and valiant service in the line of duty; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Deputy Nicolas Glass has faithfully served the citizens of Cherokee County as a member of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office since May 2022; and
WHEREAS, in April 2025, Deputy Glass transferred to Uniform Patrol, and after successfully completing the Field Training Program, he was assigned to the Oak Grove Precinct in July 2025, where he has already demonstrated remarkable dedication by responding to over 1,100 calls for service and serving as the reporting officer on more than 180 cases and incidents; and
WHEREAS, on the evening of October 25, 2025, Deputy Glass responded alongside fellow deputies to a welfare check involving a missing adult female, demonstrating his commitment to protecting the well-being of the citizens he serves; and
WHEREAS, during the course of that response, Deputy Glass encountered a violent and life-threatening situation when an armed assailant attacked him with a knife, striking him across the face and continuing the assault as Deputy Glass attempted to retreat and defend himself; and
WHEREAS, despite sustaining injuries and facing imminent danger, Deputy Glass exhibited extraordinary courage, composure, and presence of mind by defending himself and alerting fellow deputies, actions which ultimately contributed to stopping the threat and preventing further harm; and
WHEREAS, subsequent investigation revealed that the incident was connected to a tragic homicide within the residence, further underscoring the dangerous and unpredictable nature of the situation confronted by Deputy Glass; and
WHEREAS, the actions of Deputy Nicolas Glass reflect great credit upon himself, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, and the State of Georgia, serving as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made daily by law enforcement officers to protect and serve their communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Deputy Nicolas Glass for his courageous and valiant efforts in the line of duty and extend their deepest gratitude for his service to the citizens of Cherokee County and the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Deputy Nicolas Glass.
