A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ellen Schornstein Williams for her outstanding public service; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ellen Schornstein Williams has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced by her dramatic and superlative service as Chief of Staff for Georgia Senator Elena Parent; and

WHEREAS, Ellen's significant organizational and leadership talents, keen sense of politics, and sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Ellen is known for her spirited approach to life, incomparable wit, and deeply held principals; and

WHEREAS, Ellen selflessly supports humanitarian and civil rights efforts through volunteerism with the International Rescue Committee and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights; and

WHEREAS, she resides in Atlanta with her husband of many years, David, and together they are proud parents to Hannah and Benjamin and new grandparents to Sufyan; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, Ellen has served with honor and distinction, and her vision and unyielding commitment to the betterment of her state have set the standard for public service; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Ellen Schornstein Williams for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Ellen Schornstein Williams.
