A RESOLUTION
Commending Micaiah Raheem; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Micaiah Raheem, also known as Raheem the Dream, is a Georgia-based artist
who has carved his own lane in music with authenticity, determination, and unmistakable
Southern energy, blending raw street perspective with melodic instincts and confident
storytelling; and
WHEREAS, rooted in Atlanta's rich and influential hip-hop culture, his music balances
hard-hitting beats with introspective moments that reflect perseverance, resilience, and
ambition born from real-life experiences, while offering motivational anthems and personal
reflections that resonate with audiences across generations; and
WHEREAS, Micaiah Raheem began his musical journey while attending high school in
Atlanta, where he performed as an MC at talent shows and earned the nickname "The
Dream" from his classmates, a name that would become synonymous with his artistic identity
and musical career; and
WHEREAS, in 1986, he recorded his first track on Arvis Records, marking the beginning
of a groundbreaking path in Southern hip-hop, and on August 3, 1986, he became Atlanta's
first rap artist to receive regular radio rotation in the Atlanta market when his music was
placed in rotation by Mitch Faulkner, program director of Kiss 104 FM, opening doors for
generations of artists to follow; and
WHEREAS, by the early 1990s, Raheem the Dream's music had become a defining
soundtrack of Atlanta's emerging hip-hop scene, receiving national airplay for the single
"The Most Beautiful Girl" and contributing to the cultural energy surrounding Atlanta's
world-famous Freaknik festival, a landmark cultural event that helped shape the city's
reputation as a center of music, culture, and creativity; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his groundbreaking contributions to music and culture, the
Atlanta City Council honored Raheem the Dream in 2016 by proclaiming "Raheem the
Dream Day" and then-Mayor Kasim Reed presented him with the Phoenix Award, the
highest honor bestowed by the Mayor's Office, for his outstanding contributions and
pioneering role in laying the foundation of Atlanta hip-hop; and
WHEREAS, more than an artist, Raheem the Dream represents a mindset of turning pressure
into progress and dreams into direction, continuing to inspire audiences through consistency,
evolution, and an unwavering work ethic while proudly representing the City of Atlanta and
the State of Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend Micaiah Raheem, also known as Raheem the Dream, for his pioneering role in the
development of Atlanta's hip-hop culture and extend their sincere best wishes for continued
success and influence in the years ahead.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Micaiah Raheem.
