Senate Resolution 1082

A RESOLUTION

Commending Marcayla Thomas for her outstanding service as a legislative intern; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Marcayla Thomas is a graduate student at Seton Hall University pursuing dual master's degrees in public administration and diplomacy and international relations; and

WHEREAS, she has achieved notable academic distinction, earning three bachelor's degrees in international affairs, Asian studies, and Black studies along with minors in Korean and political science, a certificate in homeland security and intelligence, and a specialization in international law; and

WHEREAS, Marcayla Thomas has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service through her academic research and professional experience in legislative affairs, legal administration, and policy analysis, with research interests including international legal systems, the geoeconomics of Burkina Faso's development, and culturally informed governance; and

WHEREAS, during her service as a legislative intern, Marcayla Thomas contributed to policy research, bill tracking, legislative analysis, and constituent-focused communications to support informed decision-making processes; and

WHEREAS, her academic, professional, and legislative work demonstrates her innate sense of purpose for public service, improving legal and policy institutions, understanding how public institutions shape both national and international outcomes, and how thoughtful leadership can improve those systems for current and future generations; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this exemplary individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Marcayla Thomas for her service as a legislative intern during the 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Marcayla Thomas.
