A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger is a distinguished and award-winning hairstylist and department head in television and film whose creativity, excellence, and leadership have brought honor to the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she received the Outstanding Hairstyling Award at the 57th NAACP Image Awards for her exceptional work on the critically acclaimed series Reasonable Doubt, a testament to her remarkable talent and dedication to her craft; and

WHEREAS, this recognition marks her second NAACP Image Award nomination, having previously been nominated for her outstanding work on the acclaimed film Till; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, she was recognized as one of Variety's 10 Artisans to Watch, further solidifying her status as a rising and influential leader within the entertainment industry; and

WHEREAS, as a department head, Ms. Metzger has demonstrated exemplary leadership, overseeing professional hair teams while ensuring continuity, artistic excellence, and authenticity in storytelling across television and film productions; and

WHEREAS, beyond her professional accomplishments, she is the co-founder and executive producer of the Leading Beauty Industry (LBI) Awards, an annual gala and educational symposium dedicated to uplifting beauty professionals and fostering mentorship, education, and business development within the industry; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Metzger is also committed to community service, serving as executive director of Banneker Class of 1989, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides mentorship and scholarship opportunities for students of Benjamin E. Banneker High School in College Park, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, through her artistry, leadership, and service, Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger continues to inspire future generations while making a lasting impact both within the entertainment industry and throughout her community; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger for her extraordinary achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued success and impact. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Deaundra "Deedee" Metzger.
