Senate Resolution 1088 By: Senators Mallow of the 2nd and Kemp of the 38th A RESOLUTION Honoring and celebrating the 90th birthday of Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess was born on July 25, 1936; and WHEREAS, born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Flossie continued her education in Philadelphia, where she pursued vocational training that led to her career as a nurse technician professional. She devoted 21 years of dedicated service to St. Joseph's Hospital before retiring; and WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, she has been a member of Central Baptist Church in Savannah for 55 years, serving in many ministries and touching countless lives. Her love for gospel music led her to sing with several choirs, including the Women's Council of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, the Citywide Mass Choir, the New Testament Mass Choir, and the Savannah Community Choir; and WHEREAS, through her union with the late Neal Williams, she became the proud mother of Dana, Shekeyer, the late Baby Williams, and the late Corinthian Williams Sr. She is the cherished grandmother of Frank Jr., Courtney, Kiannis, JaCorey, Corinthian Jr., Bianca, Shedrick, Dyamond, and the late Sy'Heem, and the proud great-grandmother of Jaxon, Aspen, Sy'Mir, Ivy, Isaiah, Zy'Yahn, Zyan, Ivory, Jace, Jakobe, Jordan, Elija'Wuan, and Corinthian III; and WHEREAS, later in life, she shared companionship with the late John Burgess; and WHEREAS, Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess is a person of great strength and patience with a reputation for service and kindness. Her nurturing spirit, giving heart, and the example she has made of her life have helped to make this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time in her life; and WHEREAS, on July 25, 2026, family and friends will gather to joyfully celebrate the life, legacy, and 90th birthday of Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess, honoring a life that continues to inspire all who know her and marking nine decades of God's grace, love, and favor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of her family and community; join in celebrating the remarkable occasion of her 90th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Flossie Mae Grant Williams Burgess.
