By: Senators James of the 28th, Kemp of the 38th, Wicks of the 34th, Jones II of the 22nd,
Harrell of the 40th and others
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Senator Elena Parent on her outstanding public service; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the
welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS, elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2014, Senator Elena Parent represents the
44th Senate District, including portions of DeKalb and Clayton counties, and previously
represented Senate District 42, serving portions of central and north DeKalb County; and
WHEREAS, she currently serves as chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and as a member
of the Senate Committees on Education and Youth, Judiciary, Appropriations, and
Government Oversight; and
WHEREAS, she has further contributed through active membership in the Senate DeKalb
Delegation, the Working Families Legislative Caucus, and the Women's Legislative Caucus;
and
WHEREAS, she remains actively engaged in her community through her service on the
Advisory Board for the Olmsted Linear Park Association, as an Emory Ambassador since
2020, and as a member of the Friends School of Atlanta Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent's significant organizational and leadership talents,
remarkable patience and diplomacy, keen sense of vision, and sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and
associates; and
WHEREAS, Senator Elena Parent has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia
State Senate, and her vision and unyielding commitment to excellence will be sorely missed
upon the occasion of her retirement; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
recognize and commend Senator Elena Parent for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to the State of Georgia; congratulate her upon the grand occasion
of her retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Senator Elena
Parent.
