Senate Resolution 1095 By: Senators Rahman of the 5th, Mallow of the 2nd, McLaurin of the 14th, Howard of the 35th and Orrock of the 36th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Scattering Resources, Inc.; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, founded in October 2009, Scattering Resources, Inc., serves as a bridge between those who have resources and those who need them, scattering hope, dignity, and tangible help, one resource at a time; and WHEREAS, founder Dr. Tamara L. Moore, inspired by her late grandmother Philomene Homere, was called to action in 2008 when devastating mudslides struck Northern Haiti; and WHEREAS, when the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake struck months later, the organization immediately mobilized, solidifying its mission to help those without the basic necessities to live with dignity in both the United States and Haiti; and WHEREAS, 16 years later, Scattering Resources, Inc., addresses a critical yet often overlooked crisis: hygiene insecurity; and WHEREAS, many people across Georgia, the United States, and Haiti must choose between purchasing soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and other hygiene essentials or paying for food, rent, and utilities; and WHEREAS, Scattering Resources, Inc., recognizes that dignity begins with access to basic hygiene necessities; and WHEREAS, beyond immediate relief, Scattering Resources, Inc., provides clothing, school supplies, and disaster response while offering career and financial empowerment workshops that help individuals break cycles of poverty; and WHEREAS, since 2009, the organization has served over 10,000 individuals, distributing thousands of hygiene kits, clothing items, school supplies, and emergency relief resources; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraordinary organization be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Scattering Resources, Inc., for 16 years of unwavering support and dedication to the citizens of the State of Georgia, the United States, and Haiti. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Scattering Resources, Inc.
