Senate Resolution 1097 By: Senators Dickerson of the 21st and Harbison of the 15th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Robert T. "Terry" Dickerson, a distinguished and longtime resident of Cherokee County, Georgia, for his lifetime of service, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family and community; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Robert T. "Terry" Dickerson has long been recognized by the citizens of Cherokee County as a man of integrity, humility, and quiet strength whose life reflects the very best values of our state and nation; and WHEREAS, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969, demonstrating courage, patriotism, and a deep commitment to the freedoms we hold dear; and WHEREAS, following his military service, Terry Dickerson devoted his life to providing for his family, embodying the values of responsibility, sacrifice, and selflessness by working whatever jobs were necessary to ensure their well-being; and WHEREAS, known for his extraordinary and unmatched work ethic, he routinely worked 16 to 18 hours a day, seven days a week, never complaining but instead leading by example and showing that true character is revealed through perseverance and dedication; and WHEREAS, he is a steady and dependable presence in the lives of those around him, a man whose word can be trusted, whose actions speak louder than words, and whose life has been defined by doing what is right—even when it was not easy; and WHEREAS, he has been a devoted husband to his wife, Judy, and a loving father to his children, Tara, Jason, Jeremy, and Dillon, instilling in them through both word and example the values of faith, hard work, respect, and love for others; and WHEREAS, his legacy is not only found in what he has accomplished, but in the lives he has shaped, the family he has built, and the countless people he has quietly helped along the way; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments, admirable character, and enduring legacy of this truly exceptional Georgian be appropriately recognized. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Robert T. "Terry" Dickerson for his lifetime of service and extend their deepest appreciation for his contributions to his family, his community, the State of Georgia, and the United States of America. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Robert T. "Terry" Dickerson.
