Senate Resolution 118 By: Senator Goodman of the 8th A RESOLUTION Recognizing and commending Leadership Lowndes and Leadership Lowndes Youth for their contributions towards community involvement and awareness, developing leaders, and showing passion for action for over 35 years; and for other purposes. WHEREAS, Leadership Lowndes was established in 1988 with a vison for the growth and development of Lowndes County, Georgia; and WHEREAS, the mission of Leadership Lowndes is to build a better Lowndes County by exposing existing and emerging leaders to local challenges and opportunities, building networks that seek to address long-term solutions to community needs, and preparing members for a more active role in community leadership; and WHEREAS, this exceptional program has graduated nearly 900 leaders who have collectively contributed over 10,000 service hours to local agencies and organizations; and WHEREAS, Leadership Lowndes provides participants with enriching educational experiences, including a two day retreat, a trip to the state capitol, and monthly program days featuring speakers and discussions on present-day issues; and WHEREAS, the Leadership Lowndes Youth Initiative provides high school students with valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills, address teen issues, and engage in community service; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of this extraordinary organization be appropriately honored. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Leadership Lowndes and Leadership Lowdes Youth for their dedication to fostering community engagement, developing leaders, and driving meaningful change. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Leadership Lowndes.
