## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution recognizes February 18, 2025 as PAGE Day at the state capitol, honoring the Professional Association of Georgia Educators on its 50th anniversary.

### Plain-language summary

This resolution from the Georgia Senate commends the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE), a statewide organization of more than 93,000 teachers, administrators, and support staff, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in 2025. PAGE was founded in 1975 to improve conditions for students and teachers, and it runs programs such as the Academic Bowl, the Georgia Academic Decathlon, and the Student and Teacher Achievement Recognition program.
The resolution formally designates February 18, 2025 as PAGE Day at the state capitol, the day PAGE members plan to meet with their local legislators. It also directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare a copy of the resolution for PAGE. The measure does not change any Georgia law; it is a ceremonial statement of recognition.

### What it does

- Commends the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) for 50 years of advocacy and support of educators and public education.
- Designates February 18, 2025 as PAGE Day at the state capitol.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to prepare and distribute a copy of the resolution to PAGE.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, its more than 93,000 members across Georgia's school systems, and the Secretary of the Senate, who must prepare a copy of the resolution for distribution.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries no legal or regulatory effect; it does not change funding, licensing, or school policy. Its practical impact is symbolic, giving PAGE a formal day of recognition at the capitol and an occasion for its members to meet with state legislators.

### Key provisions

- The preamble recites PAGE's founding in 1975, its membership size, and its programs including the Academic Bowl, Georgia Academic Decathlon, and STAR program.
- The first resolving clause commends PAGE for 50 years of advocacy and recognizes February 18, 2025 as PAGE Day at the state capitol.
- The second resolving clause directs the Secretary of the Senate to make a copy of the resolution available to PAGE.
