29th, Hufstetler of the 52nd and others
A RESOLUTION
Commending Georgia's trauma professionals, the Georgia Trauma Commission, and the
Georgia Trauma Foundation and recognizing January 28, 2025, as Trauma Awareness Day
at the state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, trauma is the leading cause of death in the United States for those under the age
of 45 and the fourth leading cause of death for all ages; and
WHEREAS, physical trauma, including injuries from accidents, violence, and natural
disasters, affects millions of individuals each year, leading to significant physical, emotional,
and financial burdens; and
WHEREAS, the recognition and awareness of physical trauma are essential for improving
prevention, care, and recovery efforts, and both high-quality trauma care facilities and trained
medical personnel are crucial for providing immediate and effective treatment to trauma
victims; and
WHEREAS, prevention and safety measures such as road safety campaigns, workplace
safety regulations, and violence prevention programs play a vital role in reducing the
incidence of physical trauma; and
WHEREAS, rehabilitation services, including physical therapy and occupational therapy, are
essential for the long-term recovery and well-being of trauma survivors; and
WHEREAS, public education and awareness campaigns are necessary to inform the
community about the causes and consequences of physical trauma and the available
resources for support and recovery; and
WHEREAS, legislative support is needed to ensure adequate funding for trauma centers,
research into trauma treatment, and policies that enhance public safety; and
WHEREAS, community organizations and volunteers play a significant role in supporting
trauma survivors and promoting safety and prevention efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
commend Georgia's trauma professionals, the Georgia Trauma Commission, and the Georgia
Trauma Foundation as well as recognize January 28, 2025, as Trauma Awareness Day at the
state capitol to raise awareness about physical trauma, promote prevention and safety
measures, support trauma care and rehabilitation services, and honor the efforts of medical
professionals, community organizations, and volunteers in addressing physical trauma.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the
press.
