Senate Resolution 187

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Troy Cosby upon his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Troy Cosby has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state, as evidenced dramatically by his decades of superlative fire service; and

WHEREAS, he began his fire service career as a volunteer at Hiram Station 2 in September 1983 at just 17 years old, and upon turning 18, he enrolled in one of the county's first state-certified fire training classes; and

WHEREAS, he officially became certified in 1984 as part of the second state-certified class ever offered to volunteers in Paulding County; and

WHEREAS, he completed the county's initial 1st Responder Medical Class in 1988, was among the first to finish the inaugural EMT Class, and further advanced his skills by participating in the first GEMA Rescue Specialist Class; and

WHEREAS, in 2017, Troy Cosby continued his dedication to the fire service by becoming a member of the Honor Guard; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, he has remained steadfastly committed to expanding his knowledge and leadership skills, completing courses such as Fire Department Supervision; Politics and the White Helmet; Incident Safety Officer; Leadership I, II, and III; and more; and

WHEREAS, Troy Cosby has additionally earned an impressive list of certifications, including NPQ Hazmat Technician, NPQ Aircraft Rescue Firefighter, NPQ Apparatus Operator – Pumper, NPQ Instructor I & II, NPQ Fire Officer I, and Pressurized Container Live Fire Instructor; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentleman has given inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Troy Cosby for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated fire service; congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his retirement; and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Troy Cosby.
