## Summaries written by Georgia Commons

The following was written by claude-sonnet-5 from the text above and is not part of the resolution. Quote the text, not the summary.

A Georgia Senate resolution honors the state's firefighters and designates February 4, 2025, as Firefighters Recognition Day at the state capitol.

### Plain-language summary

This is a ceremonial resolution from the Georgia Senate, not a change to state law. It recognizes the more than 30,000 firefighters serving in over 900 fire departments across Georgia for their work in fire prevention, fire suppression, and emergency rescue.
The resolution formally designates February 4, 2025, as Firefighters Recognition Day at the state capitol and directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia State Firefighters Association. It creates no new requirements, funding, or penalties.

### What it does

- Formally honors and commends Georgia's firefighters for their service to the state.
- Designates February 4, 2025, as Firefighters Recognition Day at the state capitol.
- Directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies of the resolution to the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia State Firefighters Association.

### Who it affects

The resolution directly names Georgia's firefighters and fire departments, the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, and the Georgia State Firefighters Association, who receive the recognition and copies of the resolution.

### Why it matters

The resolution carries symbolic weight rather than legal effect. It gives Georgia's firefighters formal public recognition from the Senate but does not change funding, staffing, training requirements, or any other aspect of how fire departments operate.

### Key provisions

- The resolution recites that Georgia has more than 30,000 firefighters across 900 fire departments providing fire prevention and suppression services.
- It resolves that the Senate honors and commends firefighters for their service and dedication.
- It designates February 4, 2025, as Firefighters Recognition Day at the state capitol.
- It directs the Secretary of the Senate to distribute copies to the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia State Firefighters Association.
